Does Obama Love America?
One question keeps repeating itself. Does Barack Obama love America? It seems that all we hear is Mr. Obama criticizing America. He has said that we eat too much, that we are fat and that it is his job and that of his wife to regulate what we are allowed to choose to eat!
He has said that our police are acting foolishly when we help black college professors protect their homes and then arrest the professor when he verbally assaults the officers who are helping him.
He has said that we love to cling to our guns and our religion. This reference to Pennsylvania citizens categorized them as backward, non thinking reactionaries who are ignorant, refuse to listen to “reason” and who prefer guns and Christianity to Washingtonian liberalism.
He has said that the legally elected Republican officials of the Congress can go along for the ride but they will need to stay in the back of the bus. This reference to Republican Representatives and Senators was before the 2010 election. In that election the citizens of America sent the Obama toadies back home and elected Republicans who promised to listen to their constituents and do what the people said that the people wanted.
He referred to the Republican congress people as the enemy. He said that the voters should regard all non democrats as enemies and treat them as such. This very devisive comment deepened and strengthened the antagonism of those who hate other people.
After refusing to participate in the National Day of Prayer and stating that such participation on his part would be a wrongful action of a non partisan US government official, he goes this year and gives an overt display of religious conviction. One cannot but help wonder why last year it was wrong to be publically a Christian but this year it is okay!
He bows to a Saudi king and the Son of a Japanese Emperor. While claiming this was only good manners, one can only wonder what a US President is thinking when he profoundly bows before a feudal Saudi king and deeply bows before the son of a former war time enemy. Strange that he and Mrs. Obama should merely hug the Queen of England!
He shares books with Hugo Chavez but denounces Hosni Mubarak. Is Hugo a democratic leader or a dictator? Why is Hugo okay but Hosni is not okay?
The list could go on and on. However, the point is clear. The President of the United States of America does not love the nation of which is he the elected leader. He scolds Americans, criticizes Americans and hold citizens in contempt.
In the next election the citizens should send him into retirement.
Why Is the Obama Admin. refusing to work with the Republicans?
Regarding the judgement by a federal judge in Florida! Is the full decision of the judge available on the Internet? It seems like the media is trying to sway opinion by using one analogy concerning food and thereby highlighting only one of many examples used by the Judge. Although I think the coverage is relatively fair, it’s bias is to cast the ruling as something lighthearted, light weight and not to be taken seriously. However, Mark Levin read quotes from the last ten pages of the ruling that cast it as a very weighty ruling that declares the law to be IN FACT unconstitutional and therefore, by the internal logic of the ruling the government is told to stop the implementation of the law until the Supreme Court decides. However, the article says that the Obama Justice Department tells the government and orders(?) the States to proceed with the full inmplementation of the law. So, we need clarity and more thorough reporting of WHAT the Federal judge actually said and not just the Brocoli illustration and we need to know why the Obama Administration holds the Court in contempt by going full speed ahead and ordering the States to do the same. Politics aside, the law has already been repealed by one house of the Congress and predictably ignored by the Senate on a procedure vote. It was found unconstitutional by two Federal judges and okayed by another two. What’s the rush to implementation? I thought we were a nation of laws and that the Feds had to obey the court’s in questions of contitutionality? When the States disobeyed the courts in the Civil rights era the Feds called out the troops, as they should have. Now when things go against Obama, he chooses to ignore the court, hold it in contempt and go full speed ahead. Wait, let the congress and the Supreme Court decide before we march straight into a situation of health care chaos. Really, the best, easiest and most effecective way is to repeal this very flawed law, NOW and to work seriously and in a truly bi partisan way to enact the needed reforms. Must the democrats continue to be the party of self reighteousness and refuse to work with the Republicans? The only losers are the people.
Egypt Could Go Radical Islam!
A lot of wishful thinking on the part of our mass media about the absence of the Islamic Brotherhood. Now really! Do we think that all of this uprising is spontaneous? I know someone might call my opinion cynical but let’s use a better term, REALISTIC. Secondly, let’s think of the idea that if the Islamic brotherhood wasn’t behind the initial phase, they are the best organized and the most single minded in getting inside of it and taking advantage of it for their Islamic fundamentalist agenda. A protester said it best, “…we have the street and now the intellectuals and the leaders of the various groups will need to present us with a solution.” I think that what will happen is that the various democratic groups will be in disarray and argue with each other. The Islamic radicals will be organized, single minded and ruthless in using the crisis to their advantage. This may include a pretend to be democratic stance. Then once inside a new government under the weak willed and too idealistic Baradaei, they will cripple all functions, and hinder all compromise until they can consolidate power inside the government. Then they will take over one government ministry after another with some select murders here and there. The result will be a Islamic dictatorship in one year. The Army leadership will be accused of being an ally of the hated Mubarak, they will be selectively arrested, put before “people’s” courts, convicted and promptly executed. Then those within the government who were naive enough to go along in order to get along will be arrested, along with the Army officers who went along to get along. Once all the killing is over, all of it done under the aegis of the “new democratic government after Mubarak”, what will be left is a thoroughly entrenched Islamic Brotherhood that will have a new secret police and rule Egypt for the next one hundred plus years. Who knows? If their idea of the restoration of the Caliphate takes hold in Egypt, the whole of North Africa may be ruled by Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic Brotherhood for the next thousand years. American Liberals must get over the childish idea that just because American politicians don’t go around murdering their opposition, even though it is scary when President Obama is bold enough to call the Republicans “The enemy” anyway, don’t think that Moslem Brotherhood, Hamas and Hezbollah are afraid of murdering their way to power. The pattern of stealing the revolution was used very well by Lenin, and more recently by the Ayatollah Khomenei, and is now in process in Egypt. The Army needs to get back on the street and send the demonstrators home. Then it needs to hold the government accountable and demand a new leader and new parliament. If they do not, then they too will be the unwitting victims of their own naive idealism. Just remember this: The East Germans in 1953, the Poles and the Hungarians in 1956 and the Czechs in 1968 thought that the Americans would protect their revolution and if it went sour the Americans would “save” them. Does anyone think that Secretary Clinton and President Obama are willing to save democracy in Egypt?
Does State Government have a role to Play?
The newly elected Governors went to Washington with a message. They said that the involvement of the Federal government was not productive and in fact hindered the solution of problems. They said that the Federal government should stop mandating all kinds of new rules because all of the rules carry a price tag which the State governments are required to pay. This means that needed local programs go unfunded because the federally mandated programs must be paid first. The Governors also said that the Federal government should return tax money to the States, (I think this was done under revenue share programs by President Nixon). The returned money would allow the States more resources to answer the crucial local needs that are identified by the States for the good of the people within the States. The theme here is that the Governors believe that the Federal government is part of the problem and not part of the solution. Therefore, they want the Federal government to get out of the way, to shrink in size and reach, and lower taxes so that the local governments can solve the identified State and by inference, regional problems.
Sounds like a good idea. Too many people work for the Federal government is what is called “oversight” or supervision of resource positions. These employees must annually prove the need for their continued employment. Therefore, if they can, they will dictate their will, and extend their range of control so as to prove the necessity of their job. Secondly, the local and State governments are overwhelmed by federal requirements which try to impose a one size fits all policy. The federal mandates take a lot of time, energy and cash away from local and State programs. Thirdly, it is wasteful that the people of the local and State areas are heavily taxed by the feds. The money goes to Washington, than some of it is funneled back to the locals.
What do you think? Should the citizens of the USA have a place on the national ballot to require the Federal government to stop wasting money, stop expanding the size of government and stop increasing taxes on everybody?
Can an ordinary, everyday person become President?
I am thinking about running for President of the USA. However, I wonder if it is possible for an everyday, regular, ordinary person to become President of the nation. I mean everybody who is even considered for the job is a millionaire, is well connected with corporate and Wall Street giants and is approved by the major political and social elites. But what about the everyday person? Are they locked out of the job of serving their country because they are not rich, politically connected and socially elite? That’s a shame. Maybe there is hope in the Tea Party Movement which is ordinary, regular and everyday people attempting to make a difference in the political life of the nation they love!
Can conservatives be progressive?
It seems that a short time ago there were two major political philosophies. A person was identified as either a conservative or a liberal. Now it seems that a third designator has entered the political scene. It is the title, “progressive.” Some commentators will say that progressive is just a new name for liberal. But others say that progressive means neither conservative or liberal, it is something distinct and different. But there does not seem to be consensus about what that distinct difference is! What is the answer? Must a person be a political liberal to be progressive? Or can conservatives also be progressive?
Are Americans Angry or Awake?
There is a lot of talk about the American voters being angry. They should be angry. The last two years have shown them that they have a government unresponsive to their values. Yes, it can be argued that this has been coming for a long time, and that it is really all “Bush’s” or even “Clinton’s” fault! Okay. This writer does not believe that for one minute, in either Clinton’s or Bush’s case. Rather, our government has grown too big. It is so big that President Obama could say to a Latino audience that they must see the Republicans and the Tea Party movement as their “enemies.” Further, he said that the Latino audience should punish their enemies. It scares me when a President can call the opposition his “enemies.” I do not agree with President Obama and definitely not with his policies, therefore, I must be his enemy. I am not. I am an American. I am free to agree or disagree as I see fit to do. And I have a right to the political expression of my views both at the rally, on the street corner, at the march and in the voters booth. Additionally, I am not happy that the President of the USA see’s himself as leader of only a part of the nation and the enemy of the rest of the nation. As a candidate Senator Obama said that he would not visit West Virginia because it was a “red” state; Remembeer? Seems he had already formed his concept that he would be President of only 49 states. The voters who vote against the Democrats today are not haters of President Obama. They are not racists. They are not irrational, running scared or acting stupidly. They are lovers of America, tolerant, fair minded people who are acting intelligently to vote out of office congress persons and senators who have proven themselves to be unresponsive to the values of their constituents. Rather, was it not the President himself who stated that the police in Cambridge had acted stupidly? As a campaigner, did he not say that frightened Americans blindly cling to their guns and their religion? As a speaker to a Latino audience did he not identify himself with them and by blatant inference tell them that as Americans it is okay to regard other Americans as the “enemy” who must be profiled and punished? No, Mr. President, the American voters are not angry. They are awake. The are not racist and haters. They are people who are civically responsible who by the ballot today send their respresentatives a message. It is this: We are awake and we well remain awake and alert for a long time. And if you think we will go back to sleep tomorrow, you are mistaken.
Nobel for Obama means end of war!
This peace prize should mean that President Obama ends the wars. He should pull all troops out of foreign countries, end aggressive action against Moslems and the Taliban, stop fighting Islamic fundamentalists, leave South Korea to defend itself, stop the military standoff with North Korea, stand down United States troops in Europe and sharply reduce the amount of money the United States spends on weapons of aggression and war. Peace is peace and a peace maker is supposed to support peace. What’s the difference between the increase to US trops in “kabul” by 24000 and now maybe another 40000 and the “surge” in Iraq. If the President wants to be true to the “peace” of the prize, let him stand forth now against the hawks in his own party, against the multi national arms dealers, against the continued use of US forces as so called “peace keepers/makers.” Words are nice and encouragement and inspiration are nice too. But we gets words from the Vatican, and words from the United Nations, and words from all kinds of “peace” organizations, yet, the world is at war, nuclear armament increases, genocide occurs daily, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I do not think you can talk,” peace! peace!” and still wage war and more war.
Why are people so angry at Sarah Palin?
Watching the Republican national convention last year I was introduced to a new public person, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Since then I have been amazed at the stereotypical and prejudicial comments that have been aimed at her. Significant to me was the attacks of women and women’s groups on Gov. Palin. ( By the way, people are normally allowed to retain the title of the last highest job they held. So, it is proper to call Mrs. Palin, Gov. Palin, just like we call Mr. Clinton, Pres. Clinton.) Anyway, I thought that when people started to attack the glasses she wore, the clothes she wore, her hair style, and her methods of speech communication, well, I thought it was petty and that many women and women’s advocates would object. The silence was remarkable. Now that Gov. Palin has seen fit to resign as Governor and save the people of Alaska a lot of needless grief because of the frivolous lawsuits her haters continually filed against her, I am still amazed at how many people on network television deride her and treat her with unveiled male chauvinism, and with overt sexual voyeurism and trash talk. One (happened to be a democrat) told Laura Ingram that in two years “Palin will be on Flame and then I will watch her.” Well, I didn’t know what Flame was but Ms. Ingram did and she strenously objected to his sexist male pig talk and indicated that the reference was to the effect that Governor Palin’s future was pornography and not politics. As a father and grandfather of girls I find the continuing sexual allusions to Mrs. Sarah Palin indicative of dirty minded attackers who constantly watch her and cannot get enough of watching her and constantlyand obsessively talk about her because they are frustrated hags whose own life is sterile or are adolescent men whose virility requires the taking of viagra. I think it was a shame that women only got to vote in the 20th century. I think it is equally a shame that so many people in the 21stcentury want to subjugate women of achievement to a pornographic role.
