Ukraine Church Flourishing

The above link will take you to a series of YOU TUBE videos about the newly elected leader of the Ukrainian Greek Church.  This church is in union with Rome and Pope Benedict.  This wonderful event is exciting and the videos are good.  Further, it is increased evidence that the efforts of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI are very successful in joining together again the Christian Churches of the East and West.  As these cooperative efforts succeed many of the cultural, ethnic and religious ties between the two major Christian regions will be strengthened and I believe the areas will have increased, prosperity and a renaissance of arts, music and culture.

Get the Hell Out of Afghanistan!

Forget about all the women in Burkas.  That is their culture and their religion as soon as our tanks are out of there, the men will impose their tyranny again.  Eventually the seeds sown by USA will germinate and flourish and the women will take care of themselves.  Sad that it will take a long time but that is the way in very rural areas worldwide.  Forget about the Afghan people.  We have one misguided person in Florida who burns a Koran and the Afghans kill eight people in reprisal.  Noteworthy is that the Florida burning didn’t inflame hatred until our supposed ally Karzai raised it as a rally point for muslim bigots.  Forget about the Taliban.  They are a political party of muslim zealots who want Sharia law in Pakistan ( nuclear power) and Afghanistan.  Hey, if the people are going to allow themselves to be beheaded by a bunch of overly zealot Moslem terrorists.  What are we supposed to do about it.  Really!  We are thousands of miles and a thousand years away from them.  You know, all the things that our USA government is doing there used to be handed by Christian missionaries who brought food, medicine, education and Western progress to benighted rural area’s of the world.  The correction of Afghan cultural and religious issues is not a USA government or even a USA people problem.  It is their problem.  Stop the war.  Stop the killing, bombing and aggression.  Bring our troops home now and spend the 60 billion dollar war budget here.  Hey, just give every American a percentage tax break for every billion dollars saved by not fighting a losing battle in Afghanistan.  Obama is wrong to continue and to escalate the war there.  We need to get out.

Russia Wants Help of Roman Catholic Church!

On my blog at http://www.bible-study-for-everyone.com I chronicled the movement of the Russian Orthodox East toward the Roman Catholic West.  Now, the visit of the President of Russia to the Pope is the latest and very highly significant event in this process.  The Russians have experienced what  the West Europeans and Americans are feverishly pursuing.  They finally emerged from their 70 year slavery to Communist Socialism.  And they intend never to go back.  Therefore, they see hope in only one place, it is the home of their one time arch enemy, the Christian Church.  Like Saint Paul, the one time persecutors of the Church have had a Damascus Road experience.  They now embrace the Church as a haven of sanity in an insane world and having experienced the dictatorship of Utopian Socialist Dictators like Lenin and Stalin, the Russians now see that the formerly Christian Europeans are blindly following materialism and liberal socialism into their own enslavement.  So, the Russians have already turned to their native religion, Russian Orthodoxy and Russian Orthodoxy has reached out to Pope Paul II and now to Benedict XVI.  They want to join hands and cooperate and collaborate on joint missions because they realize that rampant Secularism and resurgent radical Islamic Jihadism is a very dire threat to peace, freedom and stability.

An Answer to one those annoying anti religion people.

This is a response to an article about NASA and an asteroid.  The blog comments on the asteroid had a goodly number of people responding that this proves there is no God, that science is the answer to everything and that all religious people, (excluding muslim) should wake up and get with the program!  So I wrote the following:  The asteroid has nothing to do with religion. The rock in space is what it is, namely, a rock in space. The space probe and the magnificent scientists who brought it so close, have nothing to do with religion. They are simply magnificent scientists. Bravo to them and keep up the great work. We all benefit from the extension of knowledge and the practical improvements that result. People who are always seeing everything as a proof for or a proof against religion, well, they are the ones with the problem. Grow up, dear friends, religion and spiritual matters have to do with humans and their comprehension and understanding of the forces that made all of this stuff. Sure, you have every right to be an evolutionist. Have at it. But also examine what evolutionary philosophy, not evolutionary science, has to say about you. Evolutionary science is just that science. Evolutionary philosophy, which is extrapolated from the science, has this to say about you. 1. You are a freak of nature because you are an accident. Yes, your parents had at it, but you could have just as well been the drip down your daddy’s pants. 2. All human life is accidental. It is the result of helter skelter, serendipity. Therefore, there is no reason for your existence, you just are a mistake. Even planned births are open to at least a fifty fifty chance of failure. 3. Since you are a mistake, there is no purpose for your life other than to eat, drink and shit. Oh, yeah, if you want to create others like yourself, you can have sex without a condom. Maybe a bull in rut, so to speak. 4. You have achieved whatever it is that you may have achieved by the random forces of blind and uncaring fate. Therefore, be proud of being the top of the food chain, the killer carnivore who alone among all creatures, kills for the mere enjoyment of the kill. 5. When you die, you just disintegrate into nothingness. There is no after life. There are no ghosts or disembodied spirits. You just turn to shit. All that you are, all that you have thought, felt, loved, maybe even created, merely rots into mush and mud. Friend, that’s all great, and believe it all you want. And hope that others do not believe it, because as they too are in the same situation, then you are their target and their next meal. So too are your family, especially your children since they are the easiest prey. Conclusion? Well, for me, I will serve God. And so does my household. And if ontologically there is no God, at least religion will bring me the benefits of self-esteem, encouragement, psychic healing, a wholesome regard for myself, my earth and my co travelers. And if existentially I make the decision to believe and so to live, that is my choice and I am a getting big thrill out of it.
