What Happened to Ross Perot?

There was a man named Ross Perot. Remember him? He was very much like Mr. Donald Trump.  He was a  business man. He was a billionaire. Both of them ran for President. What was Perot’s attractiveness? Perot gave expression to the fear and anxiety of the middle class of his time.
In his book titled, They Only Look Dead,  E.J. Dionne Jr. (1996) called those attracted to Ross Perot the “Anxious Middle”. In a very fine chapter about the Politics of the Anxious Middle,  Mr. Dionne wrote, (p.67)

The Anxious Middle set the terms for the 1992 and 1994 elections. It destroyed a Republican presidential coalition that seemed invulnerable only a few years earlier. It made Ross Perot possible, ended George (H.W) Bush’s political career, sent Bill Clinton to the White House – and rebuked Clinton and helped make Newt Gingrich one of the central figures of American politics. Perot spoke instinctively of the American Middle. Bush never understood it. Clinton saw it coming long before most politicians, shaped his campaign to respond to its concerns – and then confronted its ire after only two years in office. Gingrich sought his own radical language to speak to its anxieties

(p. 72) Almost as important as Clinton’s candidacy, of course, was Ross Perot’s, and his rise proved to be an essential component of Clinton’s victory.  In the spring of 1992, as discontent against Bush was growing, Perot’s sudden availability as a candidate shook loose millions of previously Republican voters.  Before he dropped out of the contest, Perot had risen to first in the polls and had driven Bush down to about a third of the potential vote.  In his withdrawal statement in July – in the midst of the Democratic National Convention – Perot gave Clinton a large boost when he explained that his candidacy might no longer be needed , “now that the Democratic Party has revitalized itself.”  Clinton soared in the polls.

Can we call the politics of Mr. Trump an appeal to the feelings of the Angry Middle?  His confrontational style, his harsh criticisms, his stand against media and news reporters, his comments to Megan Kelly at the debate, and his repeated statements of anger and frustration place him as their spokesperson.  Many of his supporters praise his fearless engagement with and rebuttal of the news reporters.  They like when he gives simple answers to, for instance, the immigration problem.  They admire that he is willing to say to anyone who disagrees with him, “you’re Fired.”

But as Mr. Dionne highlights, Ross Perot voluntarily left the race and abandoned his supporters.  He threw his support to Clinton.  He said that his candidacy was no longer needed now that the Democratic party was revived.  Was that it?  Did Perot play the American voters for fools?  Did he care about the voter’s or only about the revitalization of the Democrats?  Was he really just a rich old man who hated Bush and would do whatever he could to insure that Clinton won?  However you might feel about that analysis, the fact remains that Perot’s candidacy was phony and he never really cared about the “Anxious Middle.”  He cared about himself, the Clinton’s and the Democrat Party.

The parallels between Trump and Perot are startling.  Trump’s campaign is to feared because like Perot’s, Trump’s billionaire financing, his bitter anger at the press and media, and his threats of reprisal against those with whom he disagrees are enjoying the same kind of support that sent Perot to number one.  Plus, there is already talk among people that if Trump is not on the ballot, millions of voters will opt to stay home on Election Day.  Such an action of silent protest will throw the election to Mrs. Clinton and the voter’s will have been played twice the fool.

Christie’s Political Enemies Continue Attacks

http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/men-action/201401/carl-lewis-chris-christie-new-jersey-politics

The writer states at the beginning that “…New Jersey politics is a full contact sport…” Yes, it is.  No different from Obama politics with the buying of Senators to vote for Obama care.  No different from Hilary Clinton and the Benghazi scandal.  With Obama the nation is paying a huge price and forced to give up freedom of choice in healthcare.  With Hilary four great Americans are abandoned in a firefight and die.  And although this writer believes that it was not Christie personally who set up the traffic cones on a small access lane to a bridge, nonetheless, nobody died and its didn’t cost hundreds of billions of dollars.  Come clean news writers, reporting is a blood sport and you think you can take Christie down so to clear the field for Hilary.  Just another example of news media facilitating their favorites (Hilary)by destroying their rivals (Christie). PS..Hiliary will be 70 years old by 2016.  I am 66 and I have had enough of the old politicos.  Let’s move down to the forty and fifty years olds for our Presidents.  Enough with the geriatric Harry Reids and the old Senate crew.  Some of the elderly in the Senate are into their eighties!!! Pack it in boys, give somebody else a chance.

Obama and H. Clinton are Amateurs

The point of all of the criticism is not that “…they are trying to understand what did happen.”  The question is:  Why were they not willing to understand the situation BEFORE it happened?   It is clear that politics prevailed and the Obama administration was too caught up in getting elected again.  Hillary was either at her many hotels, or other travels and Barrack was at another fund-raiser, leaving the government of the nation to the second string.  The second string does a great job when all is well, but in a crisis they require informed and decisive leadership. What happened was the leadership of Obama was missing, and Hillary was unprepared. That both of them did not know anything about this crisis is exactly the point.  Regular briefings are given but if you are jetting to another foreign country or flying to another fund-raiser, you may not be paying very much attention to the importance of what is being briefed.  So, let’s not allow the leadership to investigate and cloud and push-off the responsibility onto the future.  The reasons it happened lay in the past, namely, Obama’s refusal to acknowledge militant Islam as dangerously terrorist and Hillary’s loose administration of the State department.  The Obama administration has gotten away with this in the past where nobody is responsible and no one held accountable because as they say, we don’t know what happened and we are looking into it.  But I think the American people are tired of such amateur government and will make the needed change this November.

Dick Morris . Com

“The info about the number of fundraisers is interesting.  It is also interesting in terms of misuse of power since he rode in Air Force one for all of them.  He should not be allowed to pass that off because the SS (Secret Service) insisted.  The SEALS took out Osama not Obama.  So why is Obama taking credit for Osama?   As a former CIA person said on the news yesterday, it is startling to note that the Obama administration thinks that waterboarding live prisonerss is inferior to killing them outright.  I guess the reasoning is that intentional murder is preferred to intentional torture! I write a lot about this on my WordPress blog, Progressivepolitics.com”

I wrote the foregoing in answer to Dick Morris’ video concerning the deal between President Obama and former President Clinton.  I wholeheartedly agree that the deal is dirty, but for a difference reason.  I believe that former President Clinton has never been able to adjust to life away from the center of power.  That is why he stays around Washington and is actively engaged in politics.  He liked the position of power and the perks that went with the Presidency.  He thought he owned the White House when he lived there and has never gotten over the fact that President Bush had it for eight and now President Obama four years.  I believe he yearns for those days when he was the main man at the big house.  I also think he realizes how foolish he was to squander those days by an affair with Monica L.  As for Hilary, she settled for Secretary of State for the same reasons.  She missed the White House, and the tremendous array of personal services offered to the First lady by obsequious political functionaries.  A Senator?  In that position she never approached the luxury and power afforded her as wife of the President.  Sad to see her guzzling down a beer at the bar in South America!  So, we have the persons who formerly were fielders of power cutting a deal with the currently powerful in order thereby to win an election that presents them with continued power and access to personal services that would make a king blush.  Maybe it is better to have a five-year Presidency with no opportunity for re-election.  Ford went home, as did Carter.  Bush 41 and Bush 43 also relinquished the reins of government with ‘Elan.  But it looks from here like the Clinton’s and the Obama’s want to hold on so bad that they will put up with each other to achieve it.  Elect Romney and let the new broom sweep the house clean.

Hilary Clinton

http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/bill-clinton-hillary-ablest/2011/09/20/id/411721?s=al&promo_code=D175-1 Can Hilary still be the first female US President.  Indeed, she can.  Hilary is the recipient of adulation and anger.  Her stint as wife of President Bill Clinton, did not automatically make her qualified to be USA President.  However, her stint as Secretary of State in the dysfunctional Obama Administration, may make her very competitive as a candidate for President.  This writers opinion.  I am not automatically an adherent of Hilary Clinton.  However, the Secretary has proven mettle as Sec. of States, and like her husband she dearly loves America, which for this writer is a bottom line criteria for President, since, I wholeheartedly believe that President Obama just does not understand what love of Country is- since he is a Globalist Socialist.  However, Mrs. Clinton will need to trim her own Globalist and Interventionist tendency.  This writer, as noted in other posts, wholeheartedly believes that the USA should not intervene in the internal affairs of Sovereign States.

Bill Clinton

http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/bill-clinton-gingrich-2012/2011/09/20/id/411722?s=al&promo_code=D175-1  This is a very interesting article because Bill Clinton is a thinker.  It also reveals the respect that President Clinton has for Speaker Gingrich.  I always pay attention to President Bill Clinton because he is a moderate Liberal with real life experience, was President for two terms, and was willing to actually compromise, and actually collaborate with the Republican party because unlike President Obama, Bill Clinton loves America, is not an idealog, and can see beyond his predilictions to the realities of the moment.

Solutions for Libya.

USA stops ALL support for the Illegal Criminal Oil war aggression against Libya.

USA restores full diplomatic recognition of the legal and current government of Libya.

USA withdraws support for the crony Hague Courts Declaration of Gaddafi as a “war criminal”

USA refuses to support arrest warrant issued by that politically motivated court.

USA tells Sarkozy and Cameron it will introduce UN resolution in Security Council to end all bombing of Libya.

USA tells UN that it support UN humanitarian aid to NATO destroyed Libya.

USA flushes all State department and Defense department and Cabinet members who have war gamed this illegal war.

USA stops money to rebels in Libya, money which is siphoned into personal bank accounts of rebel leaders in France.  Yes, that is where the rebel leaders have been, come from and to which they will flee when all of this is over.

This is not easy.  It was a few months ago, when the USA would not have needed to do any of the above.  But Obama has continued to dig the hole and widen the separation between Libya and the USA.  Just 90 days ago, Obama could have stopped all of this carnage by simply refusing to be a part of the UN resolution.  Even after his support for it, he could have stopped it by living the truth of his words instead of secretly continuing to do what he told the American people he was not doing.  Now that Obama has withdrawn diplomatic recognition from Tripoli and given it to the insurgent forces, the USA has to go through third-party diplomats to even have a conversation with the legal government of Libya!  Terrible fiasco by Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama.  Maybe, “Joe the Plumber” would have done a better job?

NATO And Goebbels Are Married!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110414/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_libya

Josef Goebels was the Hitler propaganda chief who is reported to have said that if you tell the people a lie often enough, they will believe it.  Surprisingly, NATO doesn’t even attempt to disguise their lies about the blatant aggression they are waging against the government of Libya.  Lets highlight a few items in the news article available here:

1. Third line, “…the same day that NATO airstrikes shock the city.”  The city is Tripoli, and it is the capitol of Libya.  It is not a military target, it poses no threat to the USA, it is heavily populated by civilians. Yet, it is very possible that since the USA flies 35% of the of the attacks, that we are involved in a civilian killing spree that should be prosecuted before the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague.

2. Fourth paragraph, “In the capitol of Tripoli several large explosions were heard…” these would the bomb explosions from the attack war planes of the USA and NATO as they ruthlessly attack the army of the government of Tripoli and also the buildings of the capitol itself.  That is the same as the terrorists who attacked the world trade tower, the pentagon and would have gotten to the US Capitol building. Can we really say it is different?

3. Paragraph seven, “…when large anti government protests escalated into civil war…” Is the USA and the NATO military alliance in the business of direct interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign State as regards its’ civil war?

4. Paragraph ten, amazingly the reporter has very few details about who was killed, whether rebel or government or civilian- has no names but does know that two of them were aged 75 and 80….any more spin?

5. paragraph 13, ” Shelling your own people is unacceptable…This is a violation of human rights.”  The USA shelled the South in our Civil war.  The British shelled its own people in the Cromwellian civil war.  The French shelled it own people in the revolution of 1848.

6.  paragraph 20, “The allies again resolved to enforce a U.N. arms embargo, protect civilians acting to push Gadhafi forces out of cities they have entered, and get in humanitarian aid.”   This is the stated mandate but this article indicated that the NATO and USA forces are criminally exceeding that UN mandate.  How? Because NATO sides with the rebels, seeks to destroy the Libyan g0vernment’s ability to function and has repeatedly stated that it will attack government military personnel in order to effect regime chance through the ouster of Gaddafi. Even though Hilary says regime shance is not the point, President Obama says Gaddafi must go.  Well, folks you really are a liar if you want it both ways.  Maybe a cheater as well. Definitely a phony.

7. paragraph 27, states that the rebel forces will accept no peace initiatives, no truce, no compromise.  Well, well, well, How in the world could anyone claim to negotiate when on the first hand they are losing the battle, and on the second hand their conclusions are already predetermined.  That is not negotiation and I think that no American citizen or businessman or politician would accept the phony theatrics of negotiations when their own demise is the only acceptable result.

8. In previously posted opinions  I set out what this lone citizen writer would do if he were in charge of the fiasco.

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll’lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Libyans Have the Right of Free Speech.

The rebels are in retreat again.  Take away foreign intervention and the so-called popular uprising is easily defeated.  Where are the five million civilians who are supposed to be rebels?  Obviously, if even a majority of the people wanted Gaddafi out, they would shelter, feed, fund and join the rebels.  But the people do not!  Is it possible that this is actually a minor rebellion of radical former military people who are themselves, like Gaddafi ,  seeking to seize control of Libya?  And the so-called leadership of the rebellion.  USA acknowledges it knows next to nothing about them, and our Sec. State has meetings with well dressed, expatriats who fled to France and lived in luxury while ordinary Libyans slogged through their daily life under the regime.  Do we remember Chalabi in Iraq?  He was a cheat and a phony expatriate who we thought was the answer to Iraq’s problems.  Yesterday I read news that the people in Gaddafi’s hometown were bombed, strafed and obviously, killed.  They are civilians but of his tribe.  So, it seems that the people who are civilians but who support Gaddafi are not allowed have free speech, free politics and freedom of assembly.  Why?  because a foreign President of the USA ( The land of the free and the home of the brave) tells them they are not allowed that freedom.  The need to believe as he does and as do French and British colonial imperialists.  I really do not agree with most of what Louis Farrakhan says, but he is right to ask President Obama who the hell he thinks he is?  Indeed as President of the USA he is one of the most important world leaders.  But he is not President of the world?   And Lindsey Graham made the association of the Minutemen with the Libyan rebels.  Please Senator, do not liken the Libyan rebels to the citizen soldiers of Bunker hill and Concord, and Valley Forge.  Last word for this post.  Did any of us realize that we had such war mongers in the Congress.  Amazing to hear Senator Mc Cain and Liebermann endorse foreign interventionism.  America is not the policeman nor the savior of the world.  And for those who will quote Gaddafi about “…showing no mercy..”  Arabs are noted for exaggeration.  Remember Saddam with his Mother of all Battles speech?
